September 7, 2014

Weekly Journal No. 2
"Go"

My Accomplishments:

For this week I am able to teach all the class of my cooperating teacher  and finish at least two rated lesson plans. My cooperating teacher was approachable and give comments positively.  Before entering her classes, I always go first to her homeroom to facilitate and supervise her students.
I served as an arbiter also in the Milo Little Olympics yesterday and today (September 6-7, 2014) held in Baguio City National High School.  This experience enhanced my vocabulary skills, there are some words not accepted in the game even they were present in the dictionary such as abbreviations.

My Insights:

When my cooperating teacher observed and rated my lesson plan, she gave and explained the positive and points for my improvement. She was fair enough in judging me, even though I am not confident enough to myself she pushes me to my limits. She said that I had a good ideas but I am not able to deliver or expressing them.

My Significant Experience:

My cooperating teacher was absent last September 2,2014 (Tuesday) due to illness. I facilitated a summative and a seat work  to all classes of Ma'am Talavera. I was nervous at first because I don't have any idea how to conduct and suffice the missing information. But, I take it as a challenge for me and I enjoyed it because all students cooperated with me, therefore; I manage them easily in traditional way.

My Problem:

You can't not talk when you're a teacher. And it's like we're actresses and actors — the voice is everything." I noticed that my voice is soft and it seems I can't hear clearly when I am teaching. How could I teach if I can't  talk and hear clearly? Yet, I can't use a aid for it, and I'm just a student teacher in which voice is one of the strongest weapon to become effective teacher.

Solutions:

I have to take care of myself and use strategies to teach my students. My doctor said  drinking lots  of water and limiting diuretics such as caffeinated beverages can help vocal cords hydrated. Staying hydrated is especially important for teachers like us  because were often to vocal disorders.

My Goals for Next Week:

I hope that I will finish my tasks on time so that I can have enough rest and avoid rushing my requirements. I want to adapt myself to new learning environment and adjust to its atmosphere. I have to review also about my lessons so that I'm confident enough in front my students.
