Weekly Journal No. 4
I Can Do It

 Accomplishment

From the comments of my cooperating teacher for improvements, I succeeded in establishing values and real life experiences of my students to their lessons. There still a long way for me to fulfill all those comments. I have to take it step by step as I assess myself also to become effective teacher.

Significant experience

I am generous to my students but not for all times. I can be their friend but friendship must be excused from the class to avoid bias and favoritism. I give consequence to my students who were not behaving well such as marking them absent when they keep on transferring seat and performing next meeting before the class starts ( for those who keep on talking). They know that I am angry when I let them do those punishments but they were enjoying their performance. I do these for them to take account in every action they make.

Insights

I came across this question (What are your standards in choosing a lifetime partner?) from the teachers/learners guide of K12. Can a student of grade 7, age of 12-13 answer this question? I became more discerning in using this guide; sometimes I preclude the theme of the selection and more of comprehension. Some of the selections in the guide were not suitable for the learners such as the story of The Baby in the Bottle.

Problems

·         My voice is soft because I have colds; therefore, my students can’t hear me.
·         Some of my students were not behaving; they keep on transferring seats and disturb their classmates.

Solutions

·         I must take care of myself and more careful of the food and drinks not to be sick again.
·         I give them consequences such as marking them absent in my class because one word is not enough for them.

Goals for Next Week

I will do my best to teach my students and take action to the comments of my cooperating teacher to have a rate of five in my evaluation form.
